The impressive fort of Mehrangarh, one of the largest in Rajasthan, stands a hundred meters above Jodhpur, perched on a steep cliff.This fort is placed on a ridge and the importance of it is so high that it was rightfully given the honor of being a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Due to this it is also one of the most wanted and loved tourist sites of Jodhpur. This fort carries the real feel of how forts actually looked like in those times. Meherangarh Fort is encircled by 7 magnificent gates, each which was built by a different ruler, and inside it holds ancient and unique paintings, folk musical instruments, turbans, armors, and palanquins. It stands above the skyline of Jodhpur on top of a perpendicular cliff. This fort was found by Rao Jodha and dates back to the 15th century.  At has such cultural significance that since that time every new brick or stone added to the fort signifies the courageous and great tales of the Rajputs showing in the memory of their heroic endeavors.

This spectacular work of marble was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in 1899 in the honor and to commemorate his father Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. This also means that it still has a beauty which would numb a person’s senses which is why it totally deserves a visit. The architecture which is behind this magnificent structure was by the very renowned Edwardian architect, Henry Vaughan Lanchester. The palace is so huge that it has three hundred and forty-seven spacious and grand rooms so it is currently serving as a Tajhotel where the guests can get a chance to experience life as true royalty for a few days.
Moreover, there is also an abundant number of features of this palace which are a true delight to the eyes. The dome of the palace is also humongous and goes 500ft beyond giving it a slight western touch as well. Mandore, Jodhpur

Mandore was the ancient capital of Marwar until the foundation of Jodhpur in the 12th century. In the 17th and 18th centuries, gigantic cenotaphs (chhattri) were built in memory of the Maharajas. They were built on the very site where the funeral pyres of the deceased rulers had taken place. Today adorable little monkeys invade the place, some visitors come to seek a little peace in the sumptuous scenery of cenotaphs built in the style of Hindu temples.
The elegant cenotaphs of Mandore Garden are a place not to be missed during the visit of Jodhpur. Not far from here is the wonderfully decorated Heroes Hall – which commemorates the deities and heroes of Mandore – and the “Three Hundred Million Gods Temple”.
A short hike on the nearby hill will take you to the old fort of Mandore and the big temple inside. The now-defunct fort of Mandore, with its thick walls and imposing size, was built on several floors and was once an architectural masterpiece. A large temple, now in ruins, is an attraction of the fort. The exterior walls of the temple show botanical drawings, birds, animals and finely engraved planets.
